5 Minutes away from Woodside B&B you will find Torhout, a market town in the middle of West-Flanders.
Wandering through its centre you’ll notice buildings from the 13^th century in different styles such as Flemish Baroque and Classicism.
You can take part in activities such as bowling, tennis, swimming, fitness and horse riding, or enjoy the tearooms, bistros or restaurants serving Belgian, Chinese, Greek, Italian or Egyptian food.

The castles of Wijnendale and d’Aertrycke

Adjoining Woodside B&B lies the Neo-Gothic castle of d’Aertrycke with its lake and beautiful park. You can wander freely in the grounds or eat in the restaurant ‘Charbon’, one of the gastronomical ‘Passim Restaurants’.

500 Metres away is the castle of Wijnendale, built in the middle ages, with its two museums ‘The castle museum’ and the ‘Burgundy Caeshuys’.

Woodside B&B is situated in the lovely countryside of Flanders, and from here you can explore all that nature has to offer:

• Several well established trails are signposted throughout the forests of Wijnendale, the largest wood reserve in West-Flanders.
• The beautiful surroundings of the castles of Wijnendale and d’Aertrycke.
• The domain ‘Groenhove’ with its stables and horse riding possibilities.
• The ‘Moerveldpath’ (7.6 km) along fields and meadows.

Cycling routes

Kastelenroute (56 km)
This route is situated between Bruges and Torhout and takes you past more than ten castles in a green environment.

Wijnendale route (58 km)
This cycling path between Ostend and Torhout brings you from the coast over the polders to the countryside of the ’Woodland’. In the polders you ride along quiet country roads, passing waterways and typical Flemish farms.

The Green 62
This 22 km long cycling path is built on the old railway line between Torhout and Ostend.
It offers a unique sight of the Flanders landscape.

A maximum of four bicycles can be rented at the station of Torhout by using our Blue-Bike membership card.
